The PUBG Nations Cup is going back to the hall where it started. Krafton, the publisher of PUBG: Battlegrounds, announced on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, on the official PUBG Esports website, that the 2026 edition of its national team tournament will be held in Seoul from June 23 to 28, with the Grand Finals at Jangchung Arena. The event was first played there in 2019, and Krafton notes that it had not returned to the venue in the seven years since.
Twenty-four teams are on the list. Twenty were already there last year. Two countries appear for the first time, one comes back after a long absence, and one place is taken by an entry that carries no country's name: Krafton calls it the Neutral Team.
In a battle royale such as PUBG, the teams are not paired off two by two. Many squads are dropped on the same map in the same match, the playing area shrinks, and the last one standing wins. A tournament is a series of such matches, and the ranking adds them up. In the Nations Cup, known as PNC, each squad is a selection of one country's players in place of a professional club.
Six days in Seoul, five of them with matches
The announcement divides the week in two. The Survival Stage, the opening phase, is played on June 23 and 24. The Grand Finals follow from June 26 to 28 at Jangchung Arena. That makes 24 teams across five days of competition, in Krafton's words, with no match scheduled on June 25.

The dates move the event forward by a month. The 2025 edition was played from July 23 to 27 at the Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul, Esports Insider reported in June 2025. The earlier slot was already in Krafton's plans: the 2026 roadmap it published in February placed the Nations Cup in June.
Twenty nations stay, four entries are new
Set beside the field of 2025, as Esports Insider listed it at the time, the list of April 22 shows four changes on each side.
| Change | Teams | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| First appearance | Kazakhstan, Ukraine | Both make their debut, Krafton says. |
| Return | Finland | Last played the event in 2022. |
| New entry | Neutral Team | Listed under that name, with no country. |
| Not on the 2026 list | France, Poland, Spain, Sweden | All four played the 2025 edition. |
| Unchanged | 20 teams | Present in both editions. |
Krafton's announcement of April 22, 2026, compared with the 2025 field published by Esports Insider on June 12, 2025.
The 20 that remain are Vietnam, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Türkiye, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Vietnam arrives as the defending champion. It won the 2025 title 61 points ahead of China, Dot Esports recalled. South Korea, the host, was the champion before that: it entered the 2025 edition as defending champion, according to Esports Insider.
Krafton's text presents the field as a mix of new and returning teams and does not explain how the 24 were chosen, or why four nations of 2025 are missing.
The detail of last year's draw shows where the changes fall. In 2025, eight teams were placed directly in the final stage as the best of the previous edition: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, South Korea, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam. All eight are on the 2026 list. France, Poland, Spain and Sweden were among the 16 teams that had to start in the Survival Stage, alongside Canada, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, the Philippines, Türkiye and the United Kingdom, who all return.

The entry that stands out is the sixteenth name of Krafton's list, between Malaysia and Norway. Every other line is a country or a territory. This one reads Neutral Team.
Krafton has not said who plays for the Neutral Team
The announcement lists the Neutral Team among the 24 participants and adds nothing about it: no players, no explanation of the name. Rosters for all teams are to be published later.
The 2025 field, as Esports Insider listed it, held 24 named nations and territories and no such entry.
The answer will come with the rosters. Krafton says the line-ups of all teams will be released on the official PUBG Esports website in the coming weeks, together with ticket sales and broadcast information.
How the event was played last year
Krafton has named the two stages of 2026 and has not yet described them. The 2025 edition gives the model it starts from, as Esports Insider detailed it on June 12, 2025, from the publisher's own post.
That year, the 24 teams did not all begin together. Sixteen of them opened in the Survival Stage, on the first two days, and only the top half, eight teams, moved on. In the final stage, played over the last three days, those eight joined the eight best teams of the previous edition, who had been waiting there. A match was won by taking the Chicken Dinner, the game's name for being the last squad alive.
The 2026 calendar has the same outline, two days and then three. Whether eight teams are again exempt from the Survival Stage, and which ones, is not in the announcement.
Nor is the prize money. In 2025 the base prize pool was US$500,000, and every one of the 24 teams was paid. The winner received US$150,000, and the scale went down to US$5,000 for the 24th place.

The first six places took US$320,000 of the base pool, and the champion alone 30 percent of it. Places seven to twelve were paid from US$17,000 down to US$12,000, one thousand less at each step, and places 13 to 24 from US$10,500 down to US$5,000 in steps of US$500.
The word base matters. Krafton set out to raise the pool through crowdfunding in 2025, Esports Insider wrote: it brought back the Pick'em Challenge, an in-game event built around items of the tournament that players could buy. No figure, base or crowdfunded, has been given for 2026.
Where the cup sits in Krafton's season
The Nations Cup is the one event of Krafton's calendar that sets clubs aside. The 2026 roadmap, which Esports Insider described on February 9, is otherwise built around professional organizations: four splits of the PUBG Global Series, in March, May, August and October, each with 24 teams, twelve of them Global Partner Teams, the clubs Krafton supports directly. US$2 million is shared across the four splits. The season ends in December with the PUBG Global Championship, played by 32 teams.
Between those, the roadmap places the Nations Cup in June and the Esports World Cup in July. For professional players the summer therefore holds two events of a different kind in a row, the first in national colors and the second back with their clubs.
The money gives a sense of scale. Each split of the Global Series is made of three weekly series, the first two worth US$100,000 each and the final US$300,000, the outlet reported. One split therefore pays US$500,000, the amount of the Nations Cup's base pool in 2025. Partner teams receive more than US$1 million in annual support in total, according to the same report, and Krafton said the higher prize pools and support were not meant for 2026 alone.

A second national-team event in November
The Seoul tournament is no longer the only one of its kind for PUBG. On February 16, 2026, Esports Insider reported that PUBG: Battlegrounds had become the tenth game announced for the Esports Nations Cup, the multi-game competition between nations that the Esports World Cup Foundation plans in Riyadh. Its PUBG tournament is scheduled from November 11 to 15, also with 24 national teams.
That event describes its selection, which Krafton's own cup has not done so far. Twelve teams are invited through Krafton's PUBG Ranking: the points a club earns are shared equally between its players, and a nation's score is the sum of its four best players. Online qualifiers follow from July 10 to 12. In Riyadh, the 24 teams start in three groups of eight, and the 16 best reach the finals. Those finals use what the organizer calls the Smash Rule: a team must first reach a set number of points, and then win a match to take the title.
Krafton is part of that project. It became a publishing partner of the Esports Nations Cup in November 2025, according to the same report, alongside Ubisoft, Moonton Games and Electronic Arts.
What is still to come
Three announcements are expected before June 23, all through the official PUBG Esports website, Krafton says: the rosters of the 24 teams, the opening of ticket sales and the broadcast plan. The format of the two stages, the venue of the Survival Stage and the prize pool are the other points the publisher has left open.
The matches start on June 23. The champion of the PUBG Nations Cup 2026 will be known on June 28 at Jangchung Arena.
