Shopify Rebellion Gold against Ghost Gaming, Wadadaa against FlyQuest RED, Puppy Thieves against the team that calls itself :3, SwimTrek Blue against SEN Otters. Those are the four opening series of the Verizon VALORANT Game Changers NA 2026 Stage 1 Main Event, as Riot Games listed them on its Valorant esports site on Friday, May 22, 2026, in a post that gives the eight qualified teams, the bracket and the schedule.

The main event starts on Friday, May 29, and ends with a grand final on Friday, June 5. It closes the first of the two stages of the North American Game Changers season, a circuit whose full name on Riot's pages is Verizon VCT Game Changers NA. Game Changers is the Valorant program that Riot cited in June 2025 as an inspiration for its women's competition in League of Legends, and its North American organizer, Raidiant, is described on Riot's pages as a company founded by women, for women.

What is at stake is a share of a prize pool and the points that decide who represents North America at the end of the year.

The eight teams and their seeds

The eight teams come out of a Swiss stage that lasted seven rounds, from April 15 to May 20. Riot's post ranks them from one to eight, a seeding that sets the first-round pairings: the first seed meets the eighth, the second the seventh, the third the sixth, the fourth the fifth.

Valorant Esports posts of April 15 and May 22, 2026.

Shopify Rebellion Gold arrives as the first seed after winning its four Swiss matches without a loss. The post refers to it as the runner-up of the 2025 Game Changers Championship, the international event that ends the Game Changers year.

Puppy Thieves and SwimTrek Blue each advanced with four wins and one loss. Puppy Thieves' only defeat came against Shopify Rebellion Gold, and the team took the second seed by beating FlyQuest RED in the match that sent it through. Wadadaa, which the post calls last year's North American runner-up, is back in the main event as the fourth seed.

The seventh seed had the narrowest path. The team named :3 stood at two wins and three losses, according to the post, and came back from there to take one of the last places.

How the field was cut from sixteen to eight

The Swiss stage is the filter between the open qualifiers and the main event. Riot's post of April 15, 2026, which introduced it, listed sixteen teams and one rule: a team advances to the main event after four wins and is eliminated after four losses, with what the post called some small exceptions depending on how the event plays out. In a Swiss format there are no groups and no bracket: teams are paired round after round, and each one keeps playing until it reaches one of the two thresholds.

The road to the Stage 1 Main Event
  1. Two open qualifiersPlayed from March 17 to April 4. Fourteen teams earned a Swiss place through them.
  2. Swiss stageSixteen teams, seven rounds from April 15 to May 20. Four wins to advance, four losses to go out.
  3. Main eventEight teams in a double-elimination bracket, from May 29 to June 5.

Two of the sixteen did not have to qualify. The season announcement, published on December 18, 2025, sent the top two North American teams of 2025, Shopify Rebellion and Wadadaa, straight to the Swiss stage as its first and second seeds. The April post gave the grounds for each: Shopify Rebellion Gold through last year's qualification for the Game Changers Championship, Wadadaa through the Game Changers Americas Last Chance Qualifier. The other fourteen came from the two open qualifiers of March and early April, tournaments that any eligible team could enter: the December announcement planned six places for the first and eight for the second.

The rounds were spread over five weeks: April 15, 23 and 29, then May 6, 13, 18 and 20. With one match per round, a team could reach four wins no earlier than the fourth round, on May 6, which is the route Shopify Rebellion Gold took. A record of four wins and one loss means qualifying in the fifth round, on May 13. A team that stood at two wins and three losses after five rounds had two rounds left and needed both.

The Swiss seeding did not hold in every case. Eight of the nine highest seeds of April are in the main event; the one missing is SaD GC, seeded sixth. Ghost Gaming, seeded ninth, took the place. Puppy Thieves climbed from seventh to second, while SEN Otters, third in April, enters the main event sixth. None of the seven teams seeded tenth to sixteenth qualified: MVSK Treasure, EMPIRE GC, Auraboros, Monarch-X GC, Teevee, HyperSpeed Golden and Frost White.

One first-round pairing of the Swiss stage sent both of its teams through in the end: :3 and Ghost Gaming met on the opening day, April 15, and both are among the eight.

A double-elimination bracket over six days

The main event is an eight-team double-elimination bracket. Every team starts in the upper bracket. A first lost series sends it to the lower bracket, a second one ends its tournament. The winner of the upper bracket and the survivor of the lower bracket meet in the grand final.

Series are played as a best-of-three, won by the first team to take two maps, a map being one full game of Valorant. Two series are longer: the lower bracket final and the grand final are a best-of-five, won with three maps.

Valorant Esports, May 22, 2026.

The schedule holds fourteen series in all: ten in the first three days, two on June 3, then one a day. On the opening day, Shopify Rebellion Gold against Ghost Gaming and Wadadaa against FlyQuest RED are listed at 2 PM Pacific Time, Puppy Thieves against :3 and SwimTrek Blue against SEN Otters at 5 PM. The last two days each start at 2 PM with a single series.

The dates match those of the December season announcement, which placed the main event on May 29 to 31 and June 3 to 5.

Prize pool and championship points

The post says the eight teams play for a share of a US$60,000 prize pool and for qualification points toward the Game Changers Championship. It does not say how the money is divided between placings, and it gives no points table.

Two figures

The Stage 1 prize pool is not the same on Riot's two pages

The post of May 22, 2026 gives US$60,000 for the Stage 1 Main Event. The season announcement of December 18, 2025 listed US$65,000 for Stage 1, the same amount as for Stage 2, within a season total of US$150,000. Neither page explains the difference.

The points carry over to the end of the season. According to the December announcement, the main event of each stage awards Game Changers Championship Circuit Points, and those points determine North America's representative at the Game Changers Championship as well as the region's entrant in the Last Chance Qualifier at the end of the season. The Kickoff tournament that opens the season, scheduled in February and early March with a US$10,000 prize pool, was announced without any, which makes this main event the first of the year to count toward that race.

Where the matches are shown

The main event is broadcast on the Valorant Americas channels on Twitch and YouTube. Raidiant, the tournament organizer and broadcast partner, also runs an observer-only feed, a stream of the game without commentators, on its own Twitch channel on May 29 and 30 only.

Content creators may rebroadcast the matches with their own commentary, a practice known as co-streaming, provided they accept Riot's co-streaming guidelines and register through a form before hosting. The post says the circuit's on-air personalities return for the event and does not name them. Its partners are those of the season: Verizon, which gives the circuit its name, Red Bull and Secretlab.

What comes after June 5

Stage 1 feeds directly into Stage 2. Under the December announcement, the top eight teams of Stage 1 skip the two open qualifiers of the second stage and go straight to its Swiss stage. Those qualifiers are planned for June 16 to 20 and June 30 to July 3, with four places each, and the sixteen-team Swiss stage is scheduled over seven rounds from July 13 to August 24.

The Stage 2 Main Event is planned for September 8 to 13 on the same announcement, again with eight teams in a double-elimination bracket and again with circuit points. The representative of North America at the Game Changers Championship is decided once both main events have been played.

For the eight teams of this main event, a place in the next Swiss stage is therefore already theirs, and the first series, on May 29, opens the part of the season that decides the rest.
