The people who will present, analyze and call the IEM Cologne Major 2026 are now known. ESL, the organizer of the Intel Extreme Masters circuit, named 17 broadcast talent for the tournament, and HLTV, the Counter-Strike news and statistics site, published the list on May 29, four days before the first match on June 2.

The list is built in three groups: four people who present, host and report from the sideline, five analysts, and eight casters working in four fixed pairs. Fourteen of them were on the spring talent lists of IEM Rio or BLAST Rivals. Three were on neither, and one of those comes from the coaching world: ash, who coached GamerLegion for more than five years, joins the analyst desk for his first event in that role.

Four faces in front of the camera

In esports, "talent" means the people a viewer sees and hears on a broadcast. Before a big event the organizer publishes its talent list, much as a team publishes its roster, so fans know who will be on screen and the scene knows who each organizer has hired.

ESL's first group holds four people who present, host or report. Freya of the United Kingdom is listed as presenter. stunna of the United States is listed for the sideline and as a presenter. sjokz of Belgium covers the sideline. OJ Borg of the United Kingdom is the stage host.

Each of these jobs has its own place in the show. A presenter leads the studio segments between matches, introduces the analysts and keeps the broadcast on time. A sideline reporter works close to the teams, with interviews and news from the floor. A stage host speaks to the crowd in the venue itself, the voice of the room rather than of the studio.

ESL's list as reported by HLTV on May 29, 2026; countries in the order of the names.

The United Kingdom supplies the most people, seven of the 17: Freya, OJ Borg, ash, Machine, JustHarry, Hugo and Dinko. Denmark, Canada and the United States have two each, and Australia, Belgium, Serbia and Slovakia one each.

Five analysts, one of them new to the chair

The analysts are the experts of the desk. They sit with the presenter before and after each series, break down what happened, and explain what the teams are likely to try next. ESL named five for Cologne: YNk of Serbia, Pimp of Denmark, STYKO of Slovakia, ash of the United Kingdom and dupreeh of Denmark. HLTV notes that Pimp is also listed as a presenter.

ash is the name HLTV singled out. Its report says he is looking for a new team after parting ways with GamerLegion, and its Stage 1 preview of May 31 describes the Major as his analyst debut. He joined GamerLegion in the middle of 2020 and spent more than five years there, stepping down from the helm late in 2025, according to HLTV, which reported on April 24 that he and the organization had parted ways. GamerLegion thanked him for his contributions and gave no reason. In his time there, HLTV recalled, the team reached the grand final of the Paris Major, which it lost to Vitality.

His former team is in the same tournament. GamerLegion are one of the 16 teams that open the Major in Stage 1, and they play NRG on the first day.

Four casting pairs, all of them established

Casters, also called commentators, describe the match live while it is played, round after round. ESL listed its eight casters in four pairs, each pair named together on the list.

SPUNJ of Australia works with Machine of the United Kingdom. JustHarry and Hugo, both of the United Kingdom, form the second pair. moses of the United States is paired with Dinko of the United Kingdom, and the Canadians Scrawny and launders make up the fourth.

None of these pairs is new. All four already worked together at spring events. At IEM Rio in April, SPUNJ, Machine, JustHarry and Hugo were the four commentators of ESL's A stream, the first of two English broadcasts, HLTV reported. At BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1 in Fort Worth, from April 29 to May 3, BLAST used moses and Dinko as one casting duo and Scrawny and launders as the other, and HLTV described the two Canadians as BLAST regulars.

Familiar names from the spring lists

The Cologne list draws heavily on two earlier ones. ESL's own English list for IEM Rio, reported by HLTV on April 8, had 14 people. Nine of them are on the Major list: stunna, Freya, Pimp, YNk, STYKO, SPUNJ, Machine, JustHarry and Hugo. The nine on-air names that BLAST named for BLAST Rivals in Fort Worth, reported on April 17, add five more: sjokz, moses, Dinko, Scrawny and launders.

That accounts for 14 of the 17. The other three, OJ Borg, ash and dupreeh, appear on neither of those two lists.

Several people also change jobs from one event to the next. At IEM Rio, stunna was the desk host and Freya one of three sideline reporters; in Cologne, Freya is the presenter and stunna is listed for the sideline and as a presenter. sjokz was BLAST's desk host in Fort Worth, her second Counter-Strike event of 2026 after IEM Krakow, according to HLTV; ESL lists her on the sideline for the Major. STYKO made his ESL broadcast debut as a sideline reporter in Rio, HLTV reported at the time, after earlier work as an analyst at BLAST's Fall Final and World Final in 2024. In Cologne he moves to the analyst desk.

Scope of the list

Seventeen names for the main broadcast, not for every language

ESL said when it announced the Major that it would be broadcast in more than 20 languages. The list HLTV reported names the main broadcast crew only, and no commentators for those other-language broadcasts.

The tournament the crew will cover

The crew will be on air for three weeks. ESL set the tournament for June 2 to 21 in Cologne, Germany, when it announced the event in August 2025, with 32 teams and a prize pool of US$1,250,000. It is the 24th Counter-Strike Major and ESL's 11th since its first at DreamHack Winter 2013, and the first Major in Cologne in a decade, after the editions of 2014, 2015 and 2016.

There are four phases. ESL's schedule of February 23 sets Stage 1 from June 2 to 5, Stage 2 from June 6 to 9, Stage 3 from June 11 to 15 at the Palladium, a Cologne venue with fans in the stands, and the playoffs from June 18 to 21. The final eight teams play the playoffs at the LANXESS arena: quarterfinals on Thursday, June 18, and Friday, June 19, semifinals on Saturday, June 20, and the grand final on Sunday, June 21.

The first phase sets the pace of the first week. HLTV's preview of May 31 describes Stage 1 as a Swiss system of five rounds, a format that pairs teams with the same record of wins and losses. The first two rounds are best-of-one, a single map; the matches that decide who advances and who is eliminated are best-of-three, won by the first team to take two maps. Eight of the 16 teams go through to Stage 2.

All 16 were invited from the Valve Regional Standings of April 6, the ranking Valve uses to hand out Major places. HLTV lists them as GamerLegion, BetBoom, M80, Liquid, Lynn Vision, NRG, Sharks, Gaimin Gladiators, B8, MIBR, HEROIC, TYLOO, SINNERS, BIG, FlyQuest and THUNDER dOWNUNDER. The other 16 of the 32 invited teams join in the later stages.

Beyond the main broadcast

The 17 names are only the first layer of how the Major reaches viewers. Co-streamers carry the broadcast further still. A co-streamer is a creator who shows the official feed on their own channel and talks over it to their own audience. ESL's Co-Streaming Guidelines 2026, published in April for its events, allow co-streams on Twitch only unless ESL grants a written exemption. They require the co-stream to stay on the tournament from start to finish while play is live, with no switch to other content. During gameplay, the creator's own webcam may cover no more than 5% of the screen.

The guidelines also say where the picture comes from. A co-streamer takes the official English feed that ESL distributes to its partners, rather than pulling the video from ESL's own channel.

What comes next

The broadcast starts on Tuesday, June 2, with the opening round of Stage 1. HLTV's preview lists eight matches on the first day. M80 against Lynn Vision and SINNERS against FlyQuest open the day in the same slot, and BIG against Liquid closes it. GamerLegion against NRG is the sixth of the eight to start.

The crew then follows the field through Stage 2 from June 6, into the Palladium for Stage 3 from June 11, and to the LANXESS arena for the four playoff days that end with the grand final on June 21.
