Gen.G, Dplus KIA, LYON and Movistar KOI finished Saturday, October 24, as the four unbeaten teams of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage, according to Hotspawn and a second news report published on October 25. Four other teams, Team Liquid Alienware, Anyone's Legend, LOS and Team Secret Whales, are 0-2 and one loss from elimination.

Round 2 of the Swiss Stage was a day of eight best-of-one games, and it changed the shape of the tournament. China's LPL, which lost all four of its games on Friday, won three on Saturday. T1, the three-time defending champion, lost to Dplus KIA after leading for much of the game.

What the Swiss Stage asks of a team

The Swiss Stage is a sixteen-team group phase in which teams are paired by their current record. A team that collects three wins moves on to the quarterfinals, and a team that takes three losses is eliminated, as Sports Kyunghyang described the format before play began.

After Round 1, winners are drawn against winners and losers against losers. Dot Esports reported that teams from the same region cannot meet in Round 1 and that no team faces the same opponent twice, and the Round 2 pairings of Gen.G against Hanwha Life Esports and Dplus KIA against T1 were all-LCK games. Riot Games, the publisher of the game and the organizer of Worlds, schedules the stage from October 23 to October 31 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.

Round 1 had sorted the sixteen teams into eight at 1-0 and eight at 0-1, and the Round 2 draw followed from it. According to Dot Esports, the winners of Friday's games were Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, Movistar KOI, Karmine Corp, Dplus KIA, CTBC Flying Oyster, T1 and LYON. The losers were Invictus Gaming, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming, Anyone's Legend, G2 Esports, Team Liquid Alienware, LOS and Team Secret Whales.

Because Round 2 pairs teams with the same record, the 1-0 group produced the four games between winners, and the 0-1 group the four games between losers. The draw therefore guaranteed that one of Top Esports and Anyone's Legend would fall to 0-2, and that two LCK teams would lose to other LCK teams.

Two Korean games, two different outcomes

The Round 2 draw had put the LCK, Korea's league, into two games against itself, so two Korean teams were certain to lose. Gen.G beat Hanwha Life Esports, and Dplus KIA beat T1.

Gen.G's win was the cleaner one. The second news report put the length at about 29 minutes, and Hotspawn credited Duro with a dominant game in the bot lane, the part of the map where two players fight together against two opponents. Gen.G had opened its Swiss run on Friday by beating Invictus Gaming, and Hanwha Life Esports had beaten Top Esports, so both teams arrived at 1-0.

The Dplus KIA result was closer. Hotspawn reported that T1 led for much of the game, and that Dplus KIA came back around the 40-minute mark with the help of a teamfight, a large battle in which most players on the map are involved, built around Career's Renata Glasc. The second news report, citing Dot Esports, called it an Elder Dragon comeback, referring to a powerful neutral objective that either team can take. It was the first Worlds loss of the stage for T1, which beat LOS on Friday and has now split its two games.

The loss also matters for T1's title defense. According to Sports Kyunghyang, T1 won Worlds in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and T1 is chasing a fourth straight title. The same outlet counted six Worlds titles in total for T1. T1 started the stage with a win over LOS and then lost to a team it led for much of Saturday's game, so it now sits at 1-1 and plays CTBC Flying Oyster on Monday in a best-of-one game that will decide whether it needs one more win or two.

The LPL answers

The most visible change from Friday was in the LPL, whose four teams had all lost. In Round 2, Top Esports, Invictus Gaming and Bilibili Gaming won, and only Anyone's Legend lost.

Top Esports beat Anyone's Legend in a very close game, according to Hotspawn. That result carries a second meaning. Anyone's Legend was the LPL's first seed, and it is now the only LPL team at 0-2. Invictus Gaming beat Team Secret Whales after what Hotspawn called a scare, with Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok the top damage dealer on K'Sante. Bilibili Gaming beat Team Liquid Alienware, with Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin strong on Camille.

In Hotspawn's interview, the interviewer said the Bilibili Gaming game looked quite slow from the outside, and Team Liquid's Josedeodo said his team died three times and lost the game, bleeding waves and towers, and that it never forced the situations. He added that the team's confidence had gone down a bit after the previous day's loss and that it did not play its usual style.

Europe, North America and the Pacific

Europe went 2-1 on the day. Movistar KOI beat CTBC Flying Oyster, G2 Esports beat LOS, and Karmine Corp lost to LYON in a game it nearly salvaged, according to Hotspawn.

LYON's win matters for North America. The LCS, North America's league, sent Team Liquid Alienware and LYON, and their Round 2 results were opposite. LYON beat Karmine Corp to reach 2-0, while Team Liquid Alienware lost to Bilibili Gaming and fell to 0-2.

The Pacific region's LCP circuit and Brazil's CBLOL both lost every Round 2 game. CTBC Flying Oyster lost to Movistar KOI, Team Secret Whales lost to Invictus Gaming, and LOS lost to G2 Esports.

Taken over both rounds, the LCK has won six games and lost two, Europe's LEC is 4-2, the LPL is 3-5, the LCS is 2-2, the LCP is 1-3, and CBLOL is 0-2.

Round 3: where the format changes

Round 3 is where the Swiss Stage stops being a series of best-of-one games. According to the second news report, games between two 2-0 teams are best-of-three, and the winners advance to the quarterfinals. Games between two 0-2 teams are also best-of-three, and the losers are eliminated. Games between two 1-1 teams stay best-of-one.

The schedule runs over two days at the same venue in Allen, with play starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, except Movistar KOI against Dplus KIA at 3 p.m. On Sunday, October 25, Gen.G meets LYON and Movistar KOI meets Dplus KIA in best-of-three series, which means two of the four unbeaten teams will reach the quarterfinals on that day. The same Sunday also has two best-of-one games between 1-1 teams: Hanwha Life Esports against Invictus Gaming, and Top Esports against G2 Esports.

On Monday, October 26, CTBC Flying Oyster plays T1 and Bilibili Gaming plays Karmine Corp, both best-of-one. The two elimination series are LOS against Team Secret Whales and Team Liquid Alienware against Anyone's Legend, each best-of-three, and one team in each will be out of Worlds.

Eight of the sixteen teams will move on. Dot Esports reported on October 19 that the quarterfinal draw takes place on October 31, after the last Swiss games, and that each team that finishes 3-0 is drawn against a team that finishes 3-2, with the remaining four teams paired against one another. The knockout stage begins on November 3.

What the 0-2 teams face

The four teams at 0-2 are in a different position from the 1-1 teams. A 1-1 team still has room: two more wins send it through, and it can afford one more loss. A 0-2 team must win three straight, and the first of those is a best-of-three in which a loss ends its tournament.

Anyone's Legend has the most prominent seed of the four. As the LPL's first seed, it lost to Karmine Corp on Friday and to Top Esports on Saturday. Its Round 3 opponent, Team Liquid Alienware, is in the same position, and the second news report noted that the losers of the two 0-2 series are eliminated. That means one of Team Liquid Alienware and Anyone's Legend will leave Worlds on Monday.

The Swiss Stage lets a team lose twice and still advance. It does not let it lose three times.
