Twenty-two more countries have a place in the Rocket League tournament of the first Esports Nations Cup. The six regional qualifiers of the competition between national teams were played from Friday, July 17, to Sunday, July 19, 2026, and Sheep Esports published the full list of qualified nations on Tuesday, July 21. They join 24 nations that were invited directly in May.
The list runs from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean. Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay, Ghana, Libya, Bahrain and the Maldives are among the nations heading to the main event, expected in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in November, for a prize pool of US$1,320,000.

Six regions, three days
Rocket League is a car football game. At the Esports Nations Cup, the competition between countries run by the Esports Foundation, the players do not wear the colors of their clubs but those of their nations.
The qualifiers were split into six regions: Europe, North America, the Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia. Each had three or four places to give. Europe, the Middle East and Africa each sent four nations; North America, South America and Asia three each, according to Sheep Esports.
| Qualifier | Places | Qualified nations |
|---|---|---|
| North America | 3 | Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic |
| South America | 3 | Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay |
| Europe | 4 | Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Czechia |
| Middle East | 4 | Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Bahrain |
| Africa | 4 | Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Algeria |
| Asia | 3 | Indonesia, Maldives, India |
| Host-region slot | 1 | United Arab Emirates |
Sheep Esports, July 21, 2026. Twenty-one nations through the regional brackets and one through the host-region slot make the 22.
The last line of the table follows its own rule. Under what the event calls its host-region initiative, one place was reserved for the highest-ranked member of the Gulf Cooperation Council that had not already qualified through the Middle East bracket. That place went to the United Arab Emirates, beside the four nations the Middle East qualifier had already sent.

In Europe, Hungary went through without dropping a series, Sheep Esports reported. Italy took the long route: it came through the lower bracket, the second chance for teams that have lost once, with wins over Norway, Croatia, Sweden and Switzerland.
Czechia's place came at the expense of Austria. The two met twice, and Czechia won both series, leaving out Austria. Portugal also fell short.
In South America, Colombia came through the upper bracket, the side of the bracket for teams that have not yet lost, with frosty, a professional who plays for Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, in its squad. Paraguay and Uruguay took the region's other two places.
How the 48 places are filled
The qualifiers were only one of three ways into the main event. The format combines invitations based on the players' professional results, open regional brackets and a small number of places set aside for countries with fewer chances elsewhere.
- 24 direct invitationsAwarded in May, on the RLCS points that each nation's three best players earned in 2026.
- 22 qualifier placesSix regional brackets on July 17 to 19, plus one host-region slot for a Gulf nation.
- 2 solidarity slotsStill to be assigned, for eligible countries whose strongest competitive game is Rocket League.
The invitations rest on the RLCS, the Rocket League Championship Series, the game's professional circuit. Clubs earn points there through the season: Esports Insider explained in February that teams collect points in the standings from their results in the online qualifiers that lead to each Major, the large international events of the season. The outlet named two of them for 2026: Boston, which began on February 19 and crowned its champion on February 22, and Paris. For the Nations Cup, Sheep Esports reported, the invitations used the RLCS points that each nation's three best players had earned in 2026.
The solidarity slots work the other way. According to Sheep Esports, the two wildcard places are reserved for countries that have not qualified for more than one title of the Esports Nations Cup and for which Rocket League is the strongest competitive game. Those countries may apply for them.

The Esports Nations Cup fills each of its games in its own way. In Valorant, 16 nations were invited on the event's ranking and 14 came through eight regional qualifiers, which ended on June 28, Sheep Esports reported at the time. In Counter-Strike 2, HLTV, the news site that follows the game, reported on February 8 that the 24 teams would be determined by a two-stage qualifier, with national qualifiers in 96 countries and territories followed by regional qualifiers. Those qualifiers were scheduled from July 6 to 19, so they ended the same weekend as the Rocket League ones.
Counter-Strike 2 and Rocket League carry the same prize pool: HLTV gave US$1,320,000 for the Counter-Strike 2 tournament, the amount Sheep Esports gives for Rocket League. Where the Counter-Strike 2 event brings 24 nations to Riyadh, Rocket League brings twice as many, 48.
Some nations now appear in more than one field. Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Hungary, Czechia and India qualified in both Valorant and Rocket League through the regional brackets, according to Sheep Esports' two lists. Indonesia, out of the Valorant event, is in the Rocket League one, and its Counter-Strike 2 team is among the 24 HLTV listed on July 20. That count matters for the solidarity slots, which are closed to countries already qualified in more than one title.
The structure behind every national team is the same. In March, the foundation named National Team Partners in more than 100 countries and territories, from more than 630 applications from 150, according to its release. Each partner appoints a National Manager, who oversees the choice of a coach for each game, and the coaches build the rosters, Sheep Esports explained in January. Where no partner was named, the foundation's regional structures support the teams.

It listed Indonesia and Mongolia as emerging regions supported through structured development. For smaller delegations, the support is also practical: Sheep Esports reported in January that the travel and accommodation of the teams are covered, and that partners have access to a Development Fund endowed with US$20 million a year.
A second national team circuit
Rocket League's national teams have another competition this year: the FIFAe World Cup, a competition between nations held with FIFA. Sheep Esports noted that it has been played for the past two years, with a third edition already scheduled for 2026. Unlike the Nations Cup, the FIFAe World Cup adds a stage of Continental Championships in August and September before its world finals.
The last edition shows the scale. The FIFAe Finals 25 were played from December 10 to 19, 2025, at the SEF Arena in Riyadh, with 250 matches over eight competition days, a prize pool of US$450,000 and 94 nations in the qualifying route FIFA called the Road to Riyadh. France won the FIFAe World Cup in Rocket League with a team made up of Zen, Vatira and Juicy, FIFA announced on December 19, 2025. Thailand won the eFootball mobile competition and Poland the console one, the two other world titles of those finals.
The Nations Cup takes a different path to its main event. Sheep Esports pointed out that it gives 48 nations a place at a LAN, a tournament played on site rather than online, where FIFA narrows its field through continental events first.
What comes next
Two places remain open: the solidarity slots, which eligible countries may still apply for. Once they are assigned, the field of 48 will be complete, with 24 nations invited on their players' points, 21 through the regional brackets, the United Arab Emirates through the host-region slot and two solidarity entries.
The club season comes first. The Esports World Cup, the foundation's summer tournament for clubs, holds a Rocket League event that was scheduled in February for August 12 to 16, with 16 teams and US$1 million in prize money, according to Esports Insider. The same RLCS standings feed it: Karmine Corp was invited as defending champion, and three more European clubs were to join on the RLCS Europe rankings, the outlet reported. Under the format published in February, its 16 teams play two groups of eight in double elimination, with most matches played as best-of-five series and elimination matches as best-of-seven; the top four of each group then move to a single-elimination bracket of best-of-seven series, won by the first team to take four games. The national teams meet afterwards, at the Esports Nations Cup, which the foundation has planned in Riyadh from November 2 to 29, 2026.
The name this event could hold, on the bracket and everywhere else.
