Sharks have committed three of their five Counter-Strike 2 players to the organization for the rest of the decade. On May 21, 2026, HLTV reported that doc, gafolo and rdnzao had signed new contracts with Sharks that run until 2030. The news comes twelve days before the first stage of the IEM Cologne Major begins, the second Major in the organization's history.
The new deals follow the team's qualification for the first stage of the Major, which it earned as the seventh-highest-ranked team of the Americas, in HLTV's words. HLTV describes Sharks as a Portuguese organization, and among the five it lists players from Brazil and Argentina.
HLTV report of May 21, 2026, and the HLTV world ranking of May 18, 2026.
Three contracts to the end of the decade
The three players who signed are Danilo "doc" Barros, 23, Victor "gafolo" Andrade, 24, and Daniel "rdnzao" Monteiro, 23, according to HLTV. A contract extension of this kind is a new agreement signed before the old one runs out: the player stays where he is, and the date on which he becomes free to leave moves further away. For these three, that date now falls in 2030.
HLTV's report gives no terms. It states no salary and no buyout, the sum another organization would have to pay to sign a player who is still under contract. What the report does fix is the length: the three players are tied to Sharks through the Cologne Major and for several seasons after it.
The two other members of the five are not left out of that plan. HLTV, citing the Brazilian outlet Dust2 Brasil, reports that João "koala" Pfeffer, 21, and Máximo "maxxkor" Cortina, 23, are also tied to Sharks on long-term contracts. HLTV gives no end date for those two deals. Taken together, that means the whole starting five is under contract with the organization, three of them until 2030.

The team is coached by Hélder "coachi" Sancho, who is 38, according to HLTV. Speaking to Dust2 Brasil, as relayed by HLTV, he said the team's focus is on stability, on the development of its players and on a rigorous training method. In the same interview he said the staff believe in working through a process and in the players getting better day by day, and that the team puts sustainable growth ahead of immediate results.
The five players he works with are young. According to the ages HLTV gives, the oldest, gafolo, is 24, doc, rdnzao and maxxkor are 23, and koala is 21. The three deals that run to 2030 cover players who are 23 and 24 today.
HLTV published each player's form over the three months before the announcement, all over the same 37 maps. The rating it uses, Rating 3.0, is HLTV's own measure of a player's overall impact on a map. Kills per round and deaths per round are the plainer counts that sit beside it: a figure of 0.73 kills per round means 73 kills for every 100 rounds played, and the same reading applies to deaths.
| Player | Rating 3.0 | Kills per round | Deaths per round |
|---|---|---|---|
| doc (to 2030) | 1.15 | 0.73 | 0.67 |
| koala | 1.15 | 0.71 | 0.60 |
| rdnzao (to 2030) | 1.10 | 0.72 | 0.65 |
| maxxkor | 1.08 | 0.65 | 0.57 |
| gafolo (to 2030) | 0.95 | 0.57 | 0.62 |
HLTV, May 21, 2026. Rating 3.0 is HLTV's own measure of impact; the period is the three months before publication.
Four of the five rate above 1.00. doc and koala share the top figure, 1.15, with doc taking more kills per round and koala dying less often of the two. gafolo is the only player under 1.00, at 0.95, and also has the lowest kill rate of the five, 0.57 per round. maxxkor dies the least often of the five, at 0.57 deaths per round.

HLTV's Prospects report for May 2026 placed him 11th.
How Sharks reached Cologne
The IEM Cologne Major, which runs from June 2 to 21, 2026, gathers 32 teams for a prize pool of US$1,250,000. It is the 24th Counter-Strike Major, according to ESL, the organizer. Valve is the game's publisher, and all 32 places at this Major were handed out by invitation.
The invitations come from the Valve Regional Standings, the ranking Valve maintains for this purpose. ESL said when it announced the event in August 2025 that the first update of April 2026 would decide the 32 teams, and that places would be shared among regions in line with how each region performed at the 2025 winter Major. HLTV published the resulting list on April 5, the eve of the deadline.
The Americas received ten places. FURIA went straight to the third stage, paiN, 9z and Legacy to the second, and six teams to the first: M80, Sharks, MIBR, NRG, Gaimin Gladiators and Liquid. Stage 1 as a whole holds 16 teams: six from Europe, six from the Americas and four from Asia, on HLTV's list of April 5. The Europeans are GamerLegion, BETBOOM, HEROIC, BIG, B8 and SINNERS; the Asian teams are TYLOO, THUNDER dOWNUNDER, Lynn Vision and FlyQuest.

No region leans on the opening stage as heavily as the Americas: six of their ten teams start in Stage 1, against six of 17 for Europe. Asia sends four of its five there. Its other team, The MongolZ, starts in Stage 3, and Asia has no team in Stage 2.
A first Major since Stockholm 2021
Sharks have been to one Major before: PGL Stockholm in 2021, HLTV notes. Cologne is the organization's return to that stage five years later.
The organization arrives with a modest place in the world order. HLTV's ranking of May 18 put Sharks 51st. HEROIC, their first opponents, were 23rd on the same list. Sharks had been 50th in HLTV's ranking of April 20, so their place has held steady in the month since the invitations were settled.
- Stage 1, June 2 to 5Sixteen teams, Sharks among them, open the Major.
- Stage 2, June 6 to 9Eight invited teams enter, joined by the teams that come through Stage 1.
- Stage 3, June 11 to 15Eight more invited teams enter at the Palladium in Cologne, with every match a best-of-three.
- Quarterfinals, June 18 and 19The playoffs begin at the LANXESS arena in Cologne.
- Semifinals and final, June 20 and 21The last four play for the title of the 24th Major.
The schedule comes from ESL's announcements of August 2025 and February 2026. The first of them, ten months before the event, already named the four stages, Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and the playoffs, and placed the playoffs at the LANXESS arena. A best-of-three series is won by the first team to take two maps. ESL announced in February that every match of Stage 3 would be played over three maps, which it described as a first in the history of Counter-Strike.
HEROIC first, two events before that
Sharks open the Major against HEROIC in the opening round, HLTV reports.
Before they travel to Germany, the five have two more events on their calendar, according to HLTV: the BC Game Masters Championship Season 2 and Stake Ranked Episode 2. Both come before the opening day on June 2.
What waits beyond the first stage shows how far a team at its second Major has to climb. HLTV's list of April 5 puts eight invited teams straight into Stage 2: Spirit, G2, Monte, paiN, Astralis, FUT, 9z and Legacy, five of them European and three from the Americas. Eight more start in Stage 3: Vitality, PARIVISION, Falcons, FURIA, Natus Vincere, Aurora, MOUZ and The MongolZ. FURIA are the only team of the Americas at that level. A Stage 1 team has to come through Stage 1 and Stage 2 before it meets any of that last group.
For Stage 3, ESL directs the fans who travel to the event to the Palladium in Cologne. The stage was stretched by one day in February, and ESL's schedule for it runs to 18 best-of-three series: four on each of June 11, 12 and 13, then three on June 14 and three on June 15. Tickets for the added day, June 11, and extra seats for the Stage 3 days that had already sold out went on sale on Thursday, February 26.
The opening day is twelve days after the announcement, and Stage 2 follows from June 6.
